The fortunes could not be more contrasting for Aizawl FC from last season. They were relegated and endured a miserable season only to survive as the three Goan clubs left the I-League. This season however, they have been fantastic and have the opportunity to go temporarily to the top of the pile after a run of two wins and two draws from their last four games. They have been in excellent form with Eze Kingsley and Zohmingliana Ralte being rock solid at the back. With Chennai City having lost all their matches on road, the match is expected to be a formality for the Reds from Mizoram as they are currently the best placed side in the league based on form. However it might not be a straight forward task as Chennai City won the last encounter against Aizawl with goals from Charlea De Souza and Marcos ‘Tank’ Vinicius helping the side from Chennai get a 2-0 win.

Coming into the match: It could not be more different for both he sides as Aizawl stamped their title challenging credentials with a 1-0 over league leaders East Bengal while Chennai City lost 4-1 at home to Shillong Lajong. Ralte scored the winner for the Mizoram side that day while Amiri scored the consolation goal in the drubbing against Shillong fro Chennai City FC.

Team news: Lalruatthara will miss out the game for Aizawl while they do not have any suspensions or other injury concerns as of now. Goal scorer from last match, Haroon Amiri will not be a part of the match after having picked up his fourth yellow card of the season. Marcos Vinicius has also not traveled with the squad.

On paper, this looks to be a very tough match for Chennai City FC as they still seem to be finding their feet in the I-League. Aizawl will look to be returning the favour to Chennai City after the result from the previous encounter between the two teams at Chennai. The away side needs to improve dramatically to get a positive result from today else it might end up being a formality for the home side.
